The blue-and-yellow macaw is not yet in immediate danger of extinction, as its distribution area and population are large, but the number of individuals of the species is constantly decreasing, which is caused by habitat destruction, environmental pollution, and logging. It is a popular hobby animal, which is why it is one of the target species of the illegal animal trade. The meat of blue and yellow macaws is eaten in their original range, and their feathers are used for decoration.
I donate part of the proceeds from my animal-themed paintings to the Gerald Durell Foundation.
